General AI term

The amount of input and output text a model can process in one interaction.

A context window is measured in tokens and includes the instructions, supplied material, conversation history and sometimes the requested output. A larger window does not remove the need to choose relevant material or define its authority.

When the source corpus is too large, retrieval or summarisation can select what belongs in CONTEXT:. Record what was supplied and what was omitted so the result is reviewable.
